We are currently seeking a part - time CNC Intern to join our Able Medical Devices team located in Gwinn, MI.

About the Role

The CNC Intern is responsible for safe operation of equipment to perform various machining work. The goal is not only to help Able Medical Devices execute its production plan but also to learn skills that will enhance the Intern's base level of knowledge in their chosen field of study. Duties include:
  • Accept responsibility for your safety and the safety of others by using safety awareness tools to eliminate unsafe acts and correct unsafe conditions
  • Accountable for the documentation of process sheet instructions, prints, tool lists, and inspection procedures to verify sequence and conformance to requirements
  • Participate in the culture of 5S by creating an orderly work area including machining equipment and tooling
  • Perform work on parts in secondary operations including but not limited to the following activities: bead blast, tumble, rework, cleaning, degreasing, polishing, manual machining, deburring, and packaging.
  • Apprentice in the CNC machining areas to learn to monitor machining operations to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as required
  • Vigilance in observation of and analysis of potential hazardous conditions in the areas of production
  • Documentation of "fail safe" attributes of products and processes
Work Schedule

Hours:Part-time summer position, 10-20 hours per week; overtime paid for hours worked beyond 40 in a week.

Schedule: Term of internship is from hire date (June) through August.

Recommended Education/Experience

Education: Currently enrolled or recently graduated from High School, preferably participating in the Middle College program or another comparable High School level technical program.

Experience: Mechanical aptitude, with an interest in a career in manufacturing.
